Brothers and Sisters Season 5 kicked off with its pilot episode on September 26, 2010. Season 5 picks up one year after the events that happened in the previous season.

Season 4 finale episode was entitled “On the Road Again” where in the storyline of the pilot episode of season 5 starts a year after the incidents. Entitled “Homecoming”, a lot has changed about the lives of the Walkers after the tragic accident that happened a year ago. Justin headed to the army, leaving behind Rebecca. To cater with their sick mother who is suffering from amnesia. While Robert is still in coma, Kitty decided not to let go of him despite his current condition. Meanwhile, Sarah chose to focus on her career to forget the accident.

The episode continues showing how the family copes up with a very tragic accident that happened to them. One by one, they all find themselves putting back their life back in track. Kitty was even considering getting back in politics in the episode entitled “Thanks for the Memories”.

Meanwhile, the Walkers are surprised by the return of Tommy in the episode entitled “Safe at Home”. Also, Sarah announced their wedding date. The Walkers decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day but everything went as not expected. The episode entitled “The One That Got Away” featured Tommy informing Sarah what Nora has been keeping of her. This just ruined what the Walkers had planned for the Valentine’s.
